Concern For GMO Foods

With the increase in the production of GM plants that produce food for humans different fears are starting to arise among people. The major fears are the negative consequences on human and animal health. The negative consequences can be side effects, allergic reactions and damage to individual organs, gene transfer and differences in nutritional values. 

Can GMO Foods really cause Cancer?

There are concerns among people that GMO foods can cause cancer by increasing carcinogens level in the body. However, American Cancer Society states that there is no evidence that shows the relationship between the GMO foods and cancer. It is just a controversial rumor spread by the people. 

Do GMOs responsible for change in Humans DNA?

People have also shown concern that GMO foods can alter the human genetic makeup. However, most of the DNA which is present in foods break down or destroy before reaching the larger intestine. Small portion of DNA enter the blood and the organs but there is no evidence that it affects the human genetic makeup. Read more 

GMOs Bad for Biodiversity? 

If engineered organisms are placed into the environment then these modified organism will overtake the less dominant species. Thus, this will result in loss of biodiversity. This is one of the biggest threat that GMOs can cause to the environment. Read more

Most of the concern related to the use of GMOs are not well established and they have no scientific basis.
